Funky Stripes Leg Warmers

Materials

  • Medium (worsted) weight yarn (3 oz/170 yds/85g per skein):
    • 1 skein gray
    • 1 oz each lilac, light raspberry, black, country blue, purple, leaf green, white and light gray
  • Mohair-look bulky (chunky) weight yarn:
    • 1 oz each pastel yellow and rose
  • Sizes F/5/3.75mm and H/8/5mm crochet hooks or sizes needed to obtain gauge

Gauge

Size F hook: 4 sc = 1 inch; 4 sc rows = 1 inch
Size H hook: 4 puff sts = 3 1/2 inches; 4 sc rnds = 1 1/4 inches; 10 sc = 3 inches
Check gauge to save time.

Pattern Notes

Weave in loose ends as work progresses. Join rounds with a slip stitch unless otherwise stated.

Special Stitches

Bulky puff stitch (bulky puff st): Insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a lp approximately 3/4 inch, [yo, insert hook in same st, yo, draw up a lp approximately 3/4 inch] twice, yo, draw through all 6 lps on hook, ch 1 to lock.
Puff stitch (puff st): Insert hook in indicated st, yo, draw up a lp approximately 3/4 inch, [yo, insert hook in same st, yo, draw up a lp approximately 3/4 inch] 3 times, yo, draw through all 8 lps on hook, ch 1 to lock.

Top Ribbed Cuff

Row 1: With size F hook and gray, ch 11, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each rem ch across, turn. (10 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, working in back lps sc in each st across, turn.
Rows 3–39: Rep row 2.
Row 40: With WS facing, holding row 39 to opposite side of foundation ch, sl st in each st across, fasten off, turn Cuff RS out.

Leg
Rnd 1 (RS): Now working in rnds, with size F hook, attach gray in side edge of Cuff, ch 1, sc in same row as beg ch-1, sc in each of next 38 rows, join in beg sc, fasten off. (39 sc)
Rnd 2: With size H hook, attach pastel yellow in any sc, ch 3 (does not counts as a st),
bulky puff st in same st as beg ch-3, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, [bulky puff st in next st, ch 2, sk next 2 sts] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, fasten off. (13 bulky puff sts)
Rnd 3: Attach purple in top of first bulky puff st, ch 1, sc in same st, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp, [sc in top of next bulky puff st, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp] around, join in beg sc. (39 sc)
Rnd 4: Ch 1, sc in each sc around, join in beg sc, fasten off.
Rnd 5: Draw up a lp of rose, ch 1, sc in each sc around, join in beg sc.
Rnd 6: Rep rnd 4.
Rnd 7: Draw up a lp of light raspberry, ch 3, puff st (see Special Stitches) in same st as beg ch-3, ch 2, sk next 2 sts, [puff st in next st, ch 2, sk next 2 sts] around, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3, fasten off. (13 puff sts)
Rnd 8: Attach black in top of first puff st, ch 1, sc in same st, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp, [sc in top of next puff st, 2 sc in next ch-2 sp] around, join in beg sc. (39 sc)
Rnd 9: Rep rnd 4.

Rnds 26 & 27: With light gray, rep rnds 5 and 6.
Rnd 28: With black, rep rnd 7.
Rnds 29 & 30: With lilac, rep rnds 8 and 9.
Rnds 31 & 32: With white, rep rnds 5 and 6.
Rnd 33: With leaf green, rep rnd 7.
Rnd 34: With gray, rep rnd 8, fasten off. (39 sc)

Bottom Ribbed Cuff
Rows 1–40: Rep rows 1–40 of Top Ribbed Cuff.

Joining
With RS tog of rnd 34 of Leg and edge of Bottom Ribbed Cuff, attach gray, working through both thicknesses, sl st in each st around, fasten off.
