Ring Trivet

Cover plastic rings and add a scalloped edge for this clever table protector.

Materials

  • Medium (worsted) weight cotton yarn: 3/4 oz (36 yds, 21g) each cream and blue
  • Size G/6/4mm aluminum crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • 9 (1 1/8-inch-diameter) white plastic rings
  • Sewing needle and matching thread

Gauge

Rnd 1 = 1 1/2 inches

Instructions

Motif (make 9)

  • Join cream to plastic ring with slip knot.
  • Rnd 1: Ch 1, work 30 sc over plastic ring; join in first sc.
  • Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same sc; *ch 4, sk next 4 sc, sc in next sc; rep from * 4 times more; ch 4; join in first sc. Fasten off.
  • Rnd 3: Join blue in any ch-4 sp; ch 1, in same sp and in each rem ch-4 sp work (sc, hdc, 3 dc, hdc, sc)-petal made; join in first sc. (6 petals)
  • Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Assembly

Referring to photo for placement, arrange 6 motifs around 1 motif. With sewing needle and matching thread, tack center dc of corresponding petals tog. Tack 1 motif to each end to form diamond shape.
