Crocheting in the Emerald Isle!

I can’t believe it was real! The first of a series of trips was a wonderful success!  Annie’s has teamed up with Craftours to bring you a series of craft-focused trips. This first trip was sponsored by Crochet! and Crochet World magazines and was a 9-day trip to Ireland!

In a nutshell, you reserve your spot on the trip, get your passport, and let Craftours handle all the rest. Craftours handles all the tickets, tours, transportation etc. They provided an excellent tour guide who stayed with us throughout the trip and smoothed the way for our adventure.

IMG_7285  Here, Lisa, Hazel, Karen and Candace work on a class project taught by designer Jennifer Ryan. We had 40 participants on the tour. The youngest was 13, (there was a Grandmother/Granddaughter duo!)  and the oldest proudly declared she is 83! Many people brought a friend/sister/husband/daughter on the tour and many people came as singles and made friends along the way! It was a great mix of people from all over the world. Elaine from Australia, Jeannette from South Africa.

IMG_7311   In addition to the crochet classes, we saw many sights and sounds of Ireland including the Iconic Blarney Castle, the Cliffs of Moher, Ross Castle, Kylemore Abbey, the Dingle Peninsula,  and the cities of Galway, Killarney, Dublin, etc.

We visited a few crafty businesses and farms. One was the Avoca Woolen mill (photo above) which is the oldest working mill in Ireland. They gave us a lovely tour of their factory and how they create their gorgeous woven fabrics.

Come back in a day or two and I’ll tell you more!
