Have you ever seen a beautiful pattern for babies that you wanted to try, but didn't know anyone who had a baby you could give it to?
Back in 2000, founder Kathy Silverton realized that thousands of premature newborns go home from hospitals with little warm clothing or few blankets.. Starting by creating booties and blankets herself, she has grown her organization, Stitches From the Heart, to 12,000+ volunteers who have contributed half a million items to over 1,100 hospitals and charities.
The group organizes senior groups too, donating yarn and supplies to those who might not be able to afford them, so individuals can still volunteer their time by stitching. Stitches From the Heart is an IRS approved 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that accepts donations of finished garments and blankets, yarn and monetary contributions. For more information:
