  • DMC Cebelia size 10 crochet cotton (282 yds per ball):
    150 yds blanc
  • Size 7/1.65mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Tracing paper
  • Craft glue

Necklace
Right Bottom Scroll

Click here for larger image.Row 1: For shaping cord, cut 2 strands crochet cotton each 20 inches long; holding both strands tog as you work, beg at center of cord, join cotton around both strands, work 40 sc around both strands (see Illustration 1), turn. (Do not cut excess ends from cord; they will be used again later.)

Row 2: Ch 2, sc in next st, [ch 1, sk next st, sc in next st] 18 times, ch 1, sk next st, sl st in next st, turn. (19 sc, 1 sl st, 20 ch sps)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in first ch sp, [ch 1, sk next st, sc in next ch sp] 6 times, ch 2, sk next st, hdc in next ch sp, [ch 2, sk next st, dc in next ch sp] 3 times, [ch 3, sk next st, tr in next ch sp] 8 times, (ch 2, dc) 3 times in ch-2 sp at end of row 2, ch 2, sl st in side of sc at end of row 1, turn. (23 sts, 22 ch lps)

Row 4: Holding shaping cord behind sts and ch sps at top of last row and covering cord as you work, 4 sc in each of first 4 ch sps, 5 sc in each of next 8 ch sps, 4 sc in each of next 4 ch sps, 3 sc in each of next 6 ch sps, 2 sc in ch-1 sp at end of row 3, 2 sc around shaping cord, join with sl st in end of row 1, fasten off. Do not cut shaping cord, front of row 4 is RS of work. (94 sc)

Trace and cut pattern piece for Right Bottom Scroll (see Bottom Scroll illustration). Place Scroll right side up on pattern piece. Pull cord at end of row 1 to shape inner curve, pull cord at end of row 4 to shape outer curve if needed. Secure ends. Cut excess cord.

Left Bottom Scroll

Rows 1-3: Rep rows 1-3 of Right Bottom Scroll. At end of last row, do not turn fasten off.

Row 4: Holding shaping cord behind sts and ch sps at top of last row and covering cord as you work, join with sl st in end of row 1, 2 sc around shaping cord, 2 sc in ch-1 sp at end of row 3, 3 sc in each of next 6 ch sps, 4 sc in each of next 4 ch sps, 5 sc in each of next 8 ch sps, 4 sc in each of last 4 ch sps, join with sl st in end of row 1, fasten off. Do not cut shaping cord. Front of row 4 is RS of work.

Trace and cut pattern piece for Left Bottom Scroll (see Bottom Scroll illustration above). Shape same as Right Bottom Scroll.

Side Scroll
Make 2.

Row 1: For shaping cord, cut 2 strands crochet cotton each 30 inches long; holding both strands tog as you work, beg at center of cord, join cotton around both strands, work 117 sc around both strands (shaping cord), turn. Do not cut excess ends from cord; they will be used again later.

Row 2: Working this row in back lps (see Stitch Guide), sl st in first st, sc in each st across, leaving last st unworked, turn, fasten off. (115 sc, 1 sl st)

Row 3: Sk first 27 sc, join with sl st in next st, ch 3, sk next 2 sts, [dc in next st, ch 2, sk next 2 sts] 18 times, dc in next st, ch 3, sk next 2 sts, sl st in next st, leaving last 27 sc unworked, turn, fasten off.

Row 4: Holding shaping cord behind sts and ch lps at top of row 2 and 3 and covering cord as you work, join with sc in sl st at end of row 2, sc in same st, sc in each of next 27 sts, sc in next sl st, 4 sc in next ch sp, 3 sc in each of next 18 ch sps, 4 sc in last ch sp, sc in next sl st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, fasten off. Do not cut shaping cord. Front of row 4 is RS of work. (121 sc)

Trace and cut pattern pieces for Side Scrolls (see Side Scroll illustration above). Place each Scroll RS up on pattern pieces. Shape in same manner as Bottom Scrolls. Tack ends of Scrolls in place according to pattern piece.

Rose
Make 2.

Rnd 1: For slip ring, leaving 4-inch end of crochet cotton, lap crochet cotton over 4-inch end forming a lp, insert hook through lp from front to back, yo, draw through lp to form ring, yo, draw through lp on hook, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 9 dc in ring, draw end tightly to close ring, join with sl st in top of ch-3. (10 dc)

Rnd 2: Ch 1, sc in same st, sc in each dc around, join in first sc.

Rnd 3: Ch 3, sk next st, [sc in next st, ch 2, sk next st] around, sc in joining sl st of rnd 2. (5 ch lps)

Rnd 4: [Sl st, ch 2, 4 dc, ch 2, sl st] for petal in each ch sp around. (5 petals)

Rnd 5: Working behind petals, ch 1, [sc in back sp of next skipped sc on rnd 2, ch 4] around, join with sl st in first sc. (5 ch lps)

Rnd 6: [Sl st, ch 2, 7 dc, ch 2, sl st] for petal in each ch sp around. (5 petals)

Rnd 7: Ch 2, *working behind next petal between 2 center dc sts, sc in ch sp of rnd 5, ch 5, rep from * around, join with sl st in first sc. (5 ch lps)

Rnd 8: [Sl st, ch 2, 10 dc, ch 2, sl st] for petal in each ch sp around, fasten off. (5 petals)

Rose Leaf Spray
Make 2.

Beg at bottom of stem, ch 16, do not fasten off.

Row 1: For first Leaf, beg at bottom of stem, ch 16, 6 tr in 5th ch from hook, turn. (7 tr)

Row 2: Ch 3, [dc dec in (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sts] twice, dc in next st, leaving last st unworked, turn. (4 dc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sk first st, sc dec in (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sts, leaving last st unworked, do not turn, for tip of Leaf, ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook, working down side of Leaf, ch 1, sl st in top of st at end of row 2, ch 2, sl st in top of st at end of row 1, ch 4, sl st in same ch as 6-tr of row 1, do not turn or fasten off.

For 2nd Leaf, ch 9, rep rows 1-3 of First Leaf, sc in each of next 4 ch below 2nd Leaf, do not fasten off.

For 3rd Leaf, ch 5, rep rows 1-3 of First Leaf, sc in each ch across stem, fasten off.

Sew stem to back of Rose with Leaves extended past last rnd of petals.

Bud & Leaf Spray
Make 2.

Beg at bottom of stem, ch 13 for first Leaf, [sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in each of next 3 ch, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch], ch 9; for 2nd Leaf, *sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in each of next 2 chs, hdc in next ch, sc in next ch*; for Bud, ch 8, bend ch-8 sp into small circle, sl st in first ch of ch-8; working in ch sp just made (sc, hdc, 2 dc, 2 tr), ch 3, sl st in front sp and left bar at top of last tr made, (2 tr, 2 dc, hdc, sc) in remainder of sp, sl st in last ch of ch-8, ch 7; for 3rd Leaf, rep between * in 2nd Leaf, sl st in side of sc on 2nd Leaf, sc in each of next 2 chs between 2nd and first Leaf, sl st in side of sc on first Leaf, ch 8; for 4th Leaf, rep between [ ] in first Leaf; sc in each ch across stem, fasten off.

Large Violet
Make 7.

Rnd 1: Ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (5 sc)

Rnd 2: (Sl st, ch 3, 2 tr, ch 3, sl st) in each st around, fasten off. (5 petals)

Small Violet
Make 4.

Rnd 1: Ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook. (5 sc)

Rnd 2: (Sl st, ch 2, 2 dc, ch 2, sl st) in each st around, fasten off. (5 petals)

Single Leaf

Row 1: Beg at bottom of stem, ch 25, 4 tr in 5th ch from hook, turn. (5 tr)

Row 2: Ch 3, dc dec in next 2 sts, dc in next st, leaving last st unworked, turn. (3 dc)

Row 3: Ch 3, sc in 3rd ch from hook, sk first dc, sc in next dc, leaving last st unworked, do not turn; working down side of Leaf, ch 2, sl st in base of st at end of row 2, ch 4, sl st in same ch as 4-tr on row 1, sl st in each ch across stem, fasten off.

Assembly

Tack narrow end of each Bottom Scroll to each Side Scroll according to diagram. Tack edges of Bottom Scrolls tog where they meet according to Assembly Diagram.

Tack end of stem and back of 1 bottom Leaf to each Bud & Leaf Spray to inner edge of each Side Scroll. Tack end of stem on Single Leaf to back side at top of left Side Scroll. Tack center back of each flower to Side and Bottom Scrolls according to Flower Placement Diagram.

Laundering Instructions

Hand-wash in mild detergent and cold water. Do not squeeze or wring. To remove excess moisture, wrap in towel and press lightly. To block, shape and pin in place. Let dry completely.
