I Love Crochet Pillow

Express your affection for crochet with a sentimental filet pillow!

Materials

  • Crochet cotton size 20 (50 grams per ball):
    • 1 ball white
  • Size 13 steel crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • 12" x 16" rectangle red heart-print calico fabric
  • 12" x 16" rectangle matching solid red fabric
  • 2 yds 1/8"-wide red ribbon
  • Sewing needle and matching thread
  • Polyester fiberfill

*Sample project was completed using DMC Cebelia crochet cotton.

Gauge
5 sps and 5 rows = 1"
Check gauge to save time.

Pattern Notes
When working from chart, read all odd-numbered (RS) rows from right to left, all even-numbered (WS) rows from left to right.
Join rnds with a sl st unless otherwise stated.

Row 1 (RS): Ch 194, dc in 8th ch from hook, [ch 2, sk 2 chs, dc in next ch] rep across, turn. (63 sps)
Row 2: Ch 5 (counts as first dc, ch-2 throughout), sk ch-2 sp, [dc in next dc, ch 2] rep across, ending with sk last 2 chs of foundation ch, dc in next ch, turn. (63 sps)

Press filet piece with damp cloth over it.

Lining
Measure filet piece and cut 1 piece of lining from each piece of fabric, allowing 1/2" for seam allowance on all sides. With RS tog, sew lining pieces tog, leaving a 3" opening along 1 side for stuffing. Turn lining RS out and stuff with polyester fiberfill. Sew 3" opening closed with whipstitch.
Pin filet piece to solid-color side of pillow form and tack in place with sewing needle and white thread.
Beg in upper left corner, weave ribbon through sps of Rnd 1 of border; tie in bow.
