Size
1 3/4" x 6" not including Tassel.

Materials

  • 100 yds. orange size 30 crochet cotton
  • small amount each black and green size 10 crochet cotton
  • No. 8 steel hook or hook size needed to obtain gauge.

Gauge
11 sc = 1"; 10 sc rows = 1".

Basic Stitches:
Ch, sl st, sc.

NOTES: When changing colors, always drop thread to wrong side of work. Use a separate skein or ball of thread for each color section. Do not carry thread across from one section to another. Fasten off colors at end of each color section.
Use 2 strands orange held together throughout; use only one strand when working with black or green.

Row 1: With orange, ch 6, 2 sc in second ch from hook, sc in next 3 chs, 2 sc in last ch, turn. (7 sc made)
Row 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn. (9)
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next st changing to black, sc in next 5 sts changing to orange, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st, turn. (11)
Row 4: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next st changing to black, sc in next 2 sts changing to orange in last st made, sc in next st changing to black, sc in next st changing to orange, sc in next st changing to black, sc in next 2 sts changing to orange in last st made, sc in next st, 2 sc in last st, turn. Row 14: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts, 2 sc in last st, turn. (7)
Rows 15-51: Repeat rows 2-14 consecutively, ending with row 12. At end of last row, fasten off.
Row 52: For stem, join green with sl st in first st, ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, sc next 2 sts tog, sc in next st, ch 15, sc in eleventh ch from hook, sc in next 4 chs, (sc next 2 sts on last row tog) 2 times. Fasten off.

Tassel
Cut 16 strands orange and 6 strands black each 13" long. Holding all strands together, fold in half, pull fold through ch lp at top of stem, draw loose ends through fold, pull tight. Trim ends.
