You can't go wrong with a granny square to use up scraps and look great. Chase away the winter chill and warm your toes with this charming country rug!

Materials
- Medium (worsted) weight yarn:
- 8 oz/400 yds/227g cream (MC)
- 6 oz/300 yds/170g assorted scrap colors (CC)
- Size N/15/10mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
- Tapestry needle

Square = 7 1/2 inches
Pattern Notes
Work with 2 strands of the same color held together throughout.
Each Square uses MC and 3 different CC yarns.
Never use the same CC more than once in a Square.
Special Stitches
Chain-3 joining (ch-3 joining): Ch 1, drop lp from hook, insert hook in center ch of corresponding ch-3 sp on previous Square, pull dropped lp through, ch 1.
Chain-5 joining (ch-5 joining): Ch 2, drop lp from hook, insert hook in center ch of corresponding ch-5 on previous Square, pull dropped lp through, ch 2.

Make 12.
Rnd 1: With CC, ch 4, sl st in first ch to form ring, ch 3 (counts as first dc), 15 dc in ring, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. (16 dc)
Rnd 2: Join different CC with sl st in any st, [ch 3, 2 dc, ch 2, 3 dc] in same st, sk next 3 sts, [(3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next st, sk next 3 sts] 3 times, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Join MC with sl st in any ch-2 corner sp, ch 3, 4 dc in same ch-2 sp, *sk next st, sc in next st, 3 dc in sp between groups of sts, sk next st, sc in next st**, 5 dc in next ch-2 sp, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: Join different CC with sl st in first dc of any 5-dc group, ch 1, sc in same dc, sc in each of next 4 dc, *fpdc around center dc of rnd 2 directly below sc of previous rnd, sc in each of next 3 sts, fpdc around next center dc of rnd 2 directly below sc of previous rnd**, sc in each of next 5 dc, rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with sl st in beg sc. Fasten off.
Rnd 5: Join MC with sl st in center sc of any 5-sc group, ch 1, (sc, ch 3, sc, ch 5, sc, ch 3, sc) in same st (corner), *[sk next st, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next st] 4 times, sk next st**, (sc, ch 3, sc, ch 5, sc, ch 3, sc) in center st of next 5-sc group (corner), rep from * around, ending last rep at **, join with sl st in beg sc. Fasten off.
1-Side Joining

Join MC with sl st in any corner ch-5 sp, ch 3, 6 dc in same ch sp, sc in next ch-3 sp, 3 sc in each of next 4 ch-3 sps, sc in next ch-3 sp, [7 dc in next ch-5 sp (or joining of 2 ch-5 sps), sc in next ch-3 sp, 3 sc in each of next 4 ch-3 sps, sc in next ch-3 sp] around outer edge, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off. (14 dc groups)
