Flower-Girl Basket & Ring-Bearer Pillow

Flower-Girl Basket Trim: about 2 inches x desired length
Ring-Bearer Pillow: about 9 x 9 inches

Materials

For Flower-Girl Basket:
  • Bulky (chunky) weight yarn: 1 oz (40 yds, 30g) white
  • Fine (sport) weight yarn: 1 oz (77 yds, 30g) white
  • Size G/6/4mm crochet hook
  • Size F/5/3.75mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Small white basket with handle, 8-inch diameter
  • 1 package 4mm pearl beads
  • 1 (8mm) pearl bead
  • 3 yds (1/4-inch-wide) white satin ribbon
  • Hot glue or tacky craft glue

For Ring-Bearer Pillow:

  • Bulky (chunky) weight yarn: 1 oz (40 yds, 30g) white
  • Medium (worsted) yarn: 1 oz (70 yds, 30g) white
  • Fine (sport) weight yarn: 1 oz (77 yds, 30g) white
  • Size G/6/4mm crochet hook
  • Yarn needle
  • 1 package 5mm pearl beads
  • 1 1/2 yds (1/4-inch-wide) white satin ribbon
  • 9 x 9-inch pillow form
  • Imitation set of wedding rings (optional)
  • Hot glue or tacky craft glue

Gauge

Gauge is not important for these projects.

Instructions

Flower-Girl Basket

Trim

With G hook and bulky yarn, make ch to fit around upper edge of basket.
Row 1: Dc in 4th ch from hook and in each rem ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), dc in each dc and in 3rd ch of beg 3 skipped chs. Fasten off.
Row 3: Join sport yarn in last dc made on previous row; ch 1, sc in same dc, in each rem dc and in 3rd ch of turning ch-3. Fasten off.

Edging

Note: Thread pearls on sport yarn.
Join sport yarn to last dc of row 3; ch 1, sc in same dc; *slide 5 beads up to hook and hold at back of work; ch 1, sc in next dc; rep from * to turning ch-3; slide 5 beads up to hook and hold in back of work; ch 1, sc in 3rd dc of turning ch.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Flower

With F hook and sport yarn, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 10 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join in first sc.
Rnd 2: Ch 1, in same sc as joining work (sc, 3 hdc, sc)—petal made; *sk next sc, in next sc work (sc, 3 hdc, sc)—petal made; rep from * 3 times more; join in beg ch-1.
Rnd 3: Working behind petals, *ch 3, sl st between next 2 petals; rep from * 3 times more; ch 3; join in first ch of beg ch-3.
Rnd 4: *In next ch-3 sp work (sc, 5 dc, sc); sl st in sl st; rep from * 3 times more; in next ch-3 sp work (sc, 5 dc, sc); join in joining sl st of previous rnd.
Rnd 5: Working behind petals, *ch 5, sl st between next 2 petals; rep from * 3 times more; ch 5, join in first ch of beg ch-5.
Rnd 6: *In next ch-5 sp work (sc, 7 tr, sc); sl st in sl st; rep from * 3 times more; in next ch-5 sp work (sc, 7 tr, sc); join in joining sl st of previous rnd.

Fasten off and weave in ends.

Finishing

Step 1: Sew large pearl to center of flower.
Step 2: Glue trim around outside of basket.
Step 3: Cut 18-inch length of ribbon and tie into large bow. Glue bow to center front of basket and glue flower to center of bow.
Step 4: Referring to photo, wrap handle with ribbon, gluing ends to bottom of handle on each side.
Step 5: Cut rem ribbon in half. Tie each piece into bow and glue to handles as shown.



Ring-Bearer Pillow

Front/Back (make 2)

With sport yarn, ch 5; join to form a ring.
Rnd 1 (RS): Ch 5 (counts as a tr and a ch-1 sp), in ring work [tr, ch 1] 11 times; join in 4th ch of beg ch-5. (12 tr)
Rnd 2: Ch 2, keeping last lp of each dc on hook, 4 dc in same ch as joining, yo and draw through all 5 lps on hook- beg cl made; ch 3, *keeping last lp of each dc on hook, 5 dc in next tr, yo and draw through all 6 lps on hook-cl made, ch 3, rep from * 10 times more, sl st in top of beg cl. Fasten off.
Rnd 3: Join bulky yarn in any ch-3 sp; ch 3 (counts as a dc), 3 dc in same sp; 4 dc in each rem ch-3 sp; join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.
Rnd 4: Join medium yarn in 3rd ch of beg ch-3; in same ch work (beg cl, ch 3, cl)—beg corner made; *ch 1, sk next dc; dc in next 10 dc, ch 1, in next dc work (cl, ch 3, cl)—corner made; rep from * twice more; ch 1, sk next dc, dc in next 10 dc, ch 1; join in top of beg cl.
Rnd 5: Sl st in next ch-3 sp; in same sp work beg corner; *dc in next ch-1 sp, in next 10 dc and in next ch-1 sp; in next corner ch-3 sp work corner; rep from * twice more; dc in next ch-1 sp, in next 10 dc and in next ch-1 sp; join in top of beg cl. Fasten off.
Rnd 6: Join bulky yarn in any corner ch-3 sp; ch 3, 2 dc in same sp; *dc in each dc to next corner ch-3 sp; 3 dc in corner ch-3 sp; rep from * twice more; dc in each dc to beg ch-3; join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3. Fasten off.
Rnd 7: Join medium yarn in same ch as joining of previous rnd; ch 1, sc in same ch; 3 sc in next sc; *sc in each sc to 2nd sc of next corner; 3 sc in 2nd sc; rep from * twice more; sc in each sc to first sc, join in first sc. Fasten off.

Edging

Note: Thread pearls on sport yarn.
Hold piece with WS facing you; join medium yarn in any sc; ch 1, sc in same sc; *slide 5 pearls up to hook and hold at back of work; ch 1, sc in next sc; rep from * around; join in first sc.

Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Finishing

Step 1: Cut 14-inch length of ribbon. Weave through rnd 1 of front and knot. Thread optional wedding rings on ribbon, knot and then tie in bow.
Step 2: Cut 4 (6-inch) lengths of ribbon and tie each in bow. Sew 1 pearl to center of each bow. Referring to photo for placement, attach bows to corners of front.
Step 3: With WS tog, sew front and back tog around 3 sides; insert pillow form and sew opening closed.
