Finished Size

3 1/2" long.

Materials

• Sport yarn — 1 oz. black
• small amount each red and green
• polyester fiberfill
• tapestry needle
• G hook or hook size needed to obtain gauge

Gauge

5 sc = 1"; 11 sc rows = 2".

Basic Stitches

Ch, sl st, sc, hdc. See Crochet Basics for stitch illustrations.

Instructions

Rnd 1: Starting at back of Body, with black, ch 2, 8 sc in second ch from hook, join with sl st in first sc. (8 sc made)
Rnd 2: Ch 1, 2 sc in each st around, join. (16)
Rnds 3-5: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join.
Rnds 6-9: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st around, join, ending with 20 sc in last rnd. Stuff. Continue stuffing as you work.
Rnd 10: Ch 1, sc first 2 sts tog, (sc next 2 sts tog) around, join. (10)
Rnd 11: Repeat rnd 3.
Rnd 12: For Head, ch 2 (counts as first hdc), hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, join with sl st in top of ch-2. (20 hdc)
Rnds 13-14: Ch 2, hdc in each st around, join.
Rnds 15-16: Repeat rnd 10, ending with 5 sc in last rnd.
Rnd 17: Ch 1, sc in first st, (sc next 2 sts tog) 2 times, join. Fasten off. Sew opening closed.
For leg (make 6), with black, ch 12, sc in second ch from hook, sc in each ch across. Fasten off.
Sew three legs to each side of Body over rnds 6-9.
With green, using satin stitch, embroider eyes 1/8" apart over top of rnd 14.
With red, using satin stitch, embroider mouth over center of last rnd.
For neck shaping, tie 6" strand black around rnd 11, pull to shape neck; secure ends.
