  • Medium (worsted) weight yarn: 33 oz (2,310 yds, 924g) assorted scrap colors; 27 oz (1,890 yds, 756g) off-white
  • Size I/9/5.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle

Gauge

4 sc = 1 inch

Pattern Stitches

  • Bobble (bobble): Draw up lp in st indicated, [yo, draw through 1 lp on hook] 3 times; yo and draw through 2 lps on hook.
  • Front post double triple crochet (fpdtr): Yo 3 times, insert hook from front to back to front around post (see Stitch Guide) of st indicated, yo, draw lp through, [yo, draw through 2 lps on hook] 4 times.
  • Cluster (cl): Keeping last lp of each fpdtr on hook, fpdtr around post of sc indicated, sk next 3 sts on same row, fpdtr around post of next sc, yo and draw through all 3 lps on hook.

Instructions

  • Note: Afghan is worked on RS only.
  • With scrap color, ch 152.
  • Row 1 (RS): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 2 chs, *bobble (see Pattern Stitches) in next sc; sc in next 3 chs; rep from * across. Fasten off.
  • Row 2: With off-white make slip knot on hook and join with a sc in first sc; ch 2, dc in each rem st. Fasten off.
  • Row 3: Sk first sc, with scrap color make slip knot on hook and join with a sc in 2nd ch of next ch-2 sp; *bobble in next dc, sc in next dc, cl (see Pattern Stitches) around 2nd sc on row 1, sk next 3 sts on same row, and around next sc; sk dc on working row behind cl, sc in next dc; rep from * to last 2 dc; bobble in next dc; sc in next dc. Fasten off.
  • Row 4: Rep row 2.
  • Row 5: Sk first sc, with scrap color make slip knot on hook and join with a sc in 2nd ch of next ch-2 sp; fpdtr (see Pattern Stitches) around next cl on 2nd row below; sk dc on working row behind fpdtr, sc in next dc, bobble in next dc, sc in next dc, cl around posts of first cl on 2nd row below and next cl; sk dc on working row behind cl, sc in next dc; *bobble in next dc, sc in next dc, cl around posts of same cl already worked on 2nd row below and next cl; sk dc on working row behind cl, sc in next dc; rep from * to last 2 dc; bobble in next dc; sc in next dc. Fasten off.
  • Row 6: Rep row 2.
  • Rows 7-126: [Rep rows 3-6] 30 times.
  • Row 127: Rep row 3.
  • Weave in all ends.
