Send holiday greetings with a personal homemade touch with these colorful crochet-adorned cards. We've even included a special verse you might like to use with each card.

Tree: 2 1/2 x 4 1/2 inches
Candle: 2 1/2 x 4 inches

Materials
  • Size 5 crochet pearl cotton:
    • 300 yds green
    • 100 yds red
    • 50 yds yellow
    • 1 yd black
  • Size C/2/2.75mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Tapestry needle
  • Card
  • Craft glue
  • Stitch marker

Gauge
6 sts = 1 inch; 4 rows = 1/2 inch

Pattern Notes
Work in continuous rounds; do not turn or join unless otherwise stated.
Mark first stitch of each round.

Christmas Tree

Bottom
Row 1: With green, ch 16, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each rem ch across, turn. (15 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (13 sc)
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. (13 sc)
Rows 4 & 5: Rep rows 2 and 3. (11 sc at end of last row)
Row 6: Ch 1, sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (9 sc)
Row 7: Ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch and in each st across, turn. (11 sc)
Row 8: Ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch and in each st across, turn. (13 sc)
Row 9: Ch 1, sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (11 sc)
Row 10: Rep row 3. (11 sc)
Row 11: Ch 1, sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, ch 1, sk next st, sc in last st, turn. (9 sc)
Row 12: Ch 1, sc in ch-1 sp, sc in each st across, turn. (9 sc)
Row 13: Ch 1, sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, ch 1, sk next st, sc in last st, turn. (7 sc)
Row 14: Ch 1, sc in ch-1 sp, sc in each st across, turn. (7 sc)
Row 15: Ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch and in each st across, turn. (9 sc)
Row 16: Ch 3, sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch and in each st across, turn. (11 sc)
Row 17: Ch 1, sk first st, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, ch 1, sk next st, sc in last st, turn. (9 sc)
Row 18: Ch 1, sc in ch-1 sp, sc in each st across to last 2 sc, sc dec in last 2 sc, turn. (8 sc)
Row 19: Ch 1, sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 2 sts, sc dec in last 2 sts, turn. (6 sc)
Row 20: Rep row 3. (6 sc)
Row 21: Ch 1, [sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in next st] twice, turn. (4 sc)
Row 22: Ch 1, sc dec in 4 sts, fasten off. (1 sc)

Pot
Row 1: With red, ch 5, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (4 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, 2 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 2 sc in last st, turn. (6 sc)
Rows 4 & 5: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. At end of last row, fasten off.
Sew to center Bottom of Tree.

Star
Rnd 1: With yellow, ch 2, 5 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join (see Pattern Notes). (5 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (10 sc)
Rnd 3: [Sl st in next st, ch 4, sc in 2nd ch from hook, hdc in next ch, dc in next ch, sk next st] around, join with sl st in beg sl st. Fasten off.
Tack to top of Tree.
Glue Tree to front of card.

Inside Greeting for Card

Candle
Row 1: With red, ch 7, sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (6 sc)
Rows 215: Ch 1, sc in each st across, turn. At end of last row, fasten off.

Holder
Row 1: With green, ch 20, sc in 8th ch from hook and in each ch across, turn. (13 sc)
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each st across, 11 sc in ch sp, working on opposite side of ch on row 1, sc in each ch across, turn.
Row 3: Ch 1, sc in each of first 13 sts, leaving rem sts unworked, turn.
Rows 47: Ch 1, sc in first st, sc dec (see Stitch Guide) in next 2 sts, sc in each st across to last 3 sts, sc dec in next 2 sts, sc in last st, turn. (5 sc at end of last row)
Row 8: Ch 1, 3 sc in first st, sc in each st across with 3 sc in last st. Fasten off. (9 sc)
Sew Candle to center of Holder as shown in photo.

Flame
Rnd 1: With yellow, ch 2, 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not join. (6 sc)
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around. (12 sc)
Rnd 3: Sc in next st, ch 4, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch, hdc in next ch, sk next st, sl st in next st, leaving rem sts unworked. Fasten off.
Sew to center top of Candle.

Finishing
Using straight stitch (see Fig. 1), with black, embroider 1 straight st at bottom of Flame as shown in photo.
